Gunner Class Guide

Who Gunner is

Gunner is one of the four free base classes in Task Bar of Ragnalis. Official Steam news describes Gunner as a ranged attacker who marks and eliminates priority targets. In Jagernaut Games’ idle auto-battler (Steam App ID 4830880, released July 30, 2026), Gunner is a natural backline clearer candidate in a party of three—alongside Witch’s Full Cast identity—while Templar Knight and Priest cover frontline defense and Prayer recovery.

Known systems only: automatic taskbar combat, frontline/backline seating, eight equipment slots, nine-item synthesis, random skills, offline rewards, Pirate / Overlord DLC, Market delayed. No Task Bar Hero cubes or runes.

Mark and eliminate as a clearer job

Put Gunner in Seat 1 of the Clear / Survive / Flex model from Party Builds when your best legal ranged stacks and skill rolls live on Gunner.

Gunner’s job:

  • Mark and delete priority targets so waves finish while you are AFK
  • Wear Gunner-eligible loot across eight slots
  • Carry consistent auto-damage skill rolls instead of novelty screenshots

Partners: Templar Knight for Sigil frontline, Priest for Prayer rescue, Witch if you prefer a spell clearer instead. Hub and rankings: Classes, Tier List.

v1.0.1 accuracy fix and early-stage context

Launch feedback often called Gunner soft in the opening maps. Treat that report with patch context:

  • v1.0.1 included a Gunner accuracy fix, a temporary text size option, a DLC recognition fix, a Reset button in Settings (changing character starts over), and reduced difficulty on stages 1-1 through 1-3.
  • v1.0.2 fixed chests that could not open, EXP that stopped, maps that got stuck, and soft bans from overly strict anti-cheat timezone mismatches. If a 1.0.1 reset broke rewards, the emergency guidance was to press Reset again.

If Gunner “cannot hit anything,” confirm you are on a build that includes the accuracy fix and that the map is not frozen. Patch detail: Patch Notes. Symptom checklist: Troubleshooting.

Early-stage difficulty reductions mean some day-one “Gunner is unusable” takes were recorded on a harsher curve. Re-test after updates before you rebuild the whole account—or before you buy Pirate / Overlord as a panic button (Pirate & Overlord).

Gear locks and nine-copy tiers

A frequent wall is soft damage paired with equipment nobody can equip. Before vendoring:

Random skills still matter. Two guns with the same name are not equal—see Random Skills and Items.

Stacking priority for Gunner accounts:

  1. Primary Gunner weapon line
  2. Primary card/support line that actually equips
  3. Survival pieces for Templar Knight or Priest so AFK time is not a wipe loop
  4. Flex or DLC gear only when Seats 1–2 are real

When Gunner should leave Seat 1

Move Gunner off clearer duty only if:

  • Witch (or another free kit) clearly outpaces it with better finished tiers and skill rolls
  • You purchased Pirate or Overlord and that paid kit now has stronger farm-ready gear
  • Inventory is permanently full of locks only another class can wear and Gunner is already topped for current maps

Do not demote Gunner because a thumbnail prefers DLC fantasy. Evaluate paid classes on Pirate, Overlord, and DLC after the free loop feels fun.

Party partners that make Gunner comfortable

  • Templar Knight: Holds the front while Gunner marks targets
  • Priest: Recovers and rescues when ranged seats take chip damage
  • Witch: Alternate or secondary damage profile—avoid three glass cannons with no anchor
  • Tools: Party Planner to keep seats honest

Reset button warning

The Settings Reset button is not a soft respec for Gunner talent trees that do not exist here. Changing character means starting over. Use it only when you intend a fresh run—especially after reading the v1.0.2 note about reward breakage from some 1.0.1 resets.

First-hour Gunner checklist

  1. Finish the menu tour in How to Play.
  2. Confirm readability with Taskbar Setup.
  3. Update past the accuracy fix; verify chests/EXP are not stuck.
  4. Equip the strongest Gunner-valid weapon and card you have.
  5. Assign Templar Knight and/or Priest before long AFK blocks.
  6. Count duplicates toward nine after each check-in.

Common Gunner mistakes

  • Judging the class only on pre-1.0.1 accuracy behavior
  • Ignoring class locks and calling drops useless
  • Spreading stacks across three weapons instead of finishing one tier-up
  • Buying storage or class DLC before Gunner can clear basic waves
  • Importing Task Bar Hero upgrade folklore
  • Leaving the client closed and wondering why idle progress stopped
  • Resetting the character to “fix aim” instead of updating the patch

Keep expectations grounded

Gunner is the free ranged mark-and-eliminate clearer in Jagernaut’s published roster. Play it with patch awareness: accuracy fix in v1.0.1, easier early stages, and v1.0.2 stability repairs. Feed stacks, protect the seat, and let AFK time work. Cosmetics and DLC fantasies can wait until chests are already flowing.
